Wick Bottom Barn Wedding

Emily + Tom | Wick Bottom Barn Wedding

“We arrived home from honeymoon today and this is the BEST thing to come home to! Wow, there are so many photos and they are so great, they really tell the story of the day. We’ve just had one look through now but will spend hours looking again over the next few evenings, it’s going to be tough to decide which ones to print!

Thank you so much again, i’m so glad you were available for our wedding as you are amazingly talented :-)”

I always feel that weddings are a bit like children… in that you really shouldn’t have a favourite.

So although it feels slightly wrong, I have no problem with saying that Emily & Tom’s wedding at Wick Botton Barn has got to be one of my all time favourite weddings.

Emily and Tom were such a joy to be around, Tom even forgave me for calling him Matt for a sizeable part of the day! For me, it was genuinely like being amongst a wedding full of old friends, which was ace. Emily and Tom were both so relaxed about all the proceedings throughout their day that I wondered if there might be some kind of catch…luckily not, it’s just just how they are.  Photographically they trusted me to capture the story of their day and that trust in me just seemed to help everything fall into place. The relaxed ‘vibe’ of the day even seemed to rub off on the vicar who was really helpful in letting me stand were I needed to get the shots I wanted (trust me this really is something to write home about).  Also, I can’t imagine many vicars agreeing to let the father-of-the-bride do a surprise rendition of Pharrell’s ‘Happy’ as the couple were exiting down the aisle.  It still makes me grin from ear to ear when I think about this.  It was perfect.

Wick Bottom Barn may not be the grandest venue I’ve ever shot as but hey I’m not one for too much pomp & ceremony and I thought it was simply perfect. I have been pre-warned that it was in the middle of nowhere, they weren’t wrong.  A very beautiful nowhere it turned out to be! It’s rustic charms seemed to work their magic on all of us.  In fact their was a understated charm and elegance about their whole day.

Here’s their day…
