St Paul’s Cathedral Wedding Photographer
St Paul’s Cathedral | Danielle & James
It would be fair to say that when you’re photographing a wedding at St Paul’s Cathedral you don’t get a lot of sleep the night before. It wasn’t first match nerves as I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a wedding here before, I think it’s just the enormous sense of occasion that St Paul’s bring to the proceedings.
This is also why I have a massive respect for Danielle & James, not once did they let the sense of occasion overshadow their day. At the end of the day this was two young people getting married and that’s exactly what it felt like, it was about them and their love for each other, it was almost incidental that it was taking place in perhaps one of the most historical buildings in the London or even the world (I don’t think that’s an over exaggeration is it?). It does have to be said though that St Paul’s Cathedral does provide quite an impressive backdrop to your wedding and indeed the photographs. It’s such an iconic building that is must feel pretty surreal getting married there, I certainly know it felt quite surreal photographing a wedding there.
I typically like to photograph a wedding on my own, this way I can be sure of a consistent style and can capture proceeding in an unobtrusive fashion. However on this occasion is would have been daft to attempt a solo flight. I was absolutely delighted to have my friend Adam Johnson from ARJ Photography helping me out. Adam is an amazing photographer, I genuinely couldn’t think of someone who I’d rather have had with me and who’s work I admire more. Adam you rock – thanks mate.
Having a ceremony at St Paul’s is going to be quite hard act to follow, surely any reception venue is going to feel a bit of a come down after that? Not if you have your reception on a boat cruising down the Thames is won’t! And that’s exactly what Danielle & James did. It was a feast for the eyes, a complete London extravaganza – London Bridge, House Of Parliament, Tower Bridge, The London Eye, 02 Arena and of course St Paul’s Cathedral.
Here’s the story of their day.
