Rowton Castle Wedding

Sarah & James | Rowton Castle Wedding

“Oh Brett!! Wow and wow, well they had me in tears at my desk. They are so beautiful, I can’t wait to show James when he’s home, he will love them too.

They are more than I could have ever dreamt of, looking at those photos seems so surreal the day was so perfect and now I can look at those photos forever and be reminded how amazing our day was, you have truly captured every detail of our day. I cannot thank you enough.”

Sarah & James had their wedding at Rowton Castle last July.

I’ll be very honest and confess that in ‘wedding photography’ terms that’s quite a while ago, I’ve photographed many weddings since.

It’s often the case that these blog posts are very much a roll call of what designer made the dress, what sort of shoes the bride wore, who did the hair & make-up, what the readings were at the ceremony, what food was served for the wedding breakfast, what song was their first dance etc, you get the picture. These things aren’t unimportant, they certainly contribute to the day but they are far removed from the heart and soul of the day. And while I may not remember much of the ephemera from Sarah & James’ day at Rowton Castle I very much remember what made it such a special day. It was the people. Every one of them.

The guests at a wedding are a carefully selected bunch and that’s what makes them all so special.  It is highly unlikely that those exact same people will ever all gather together again.  I appreciate that may sound mildly depressing but it is nevertheless very true. Some you will fall out of touch with over time, others will move away from where you live perhaps even abroad and then there will be those who pass away. It is for these reasons that I really encourage every couple who’s wedding I photograph to really take it all in, not just the dress, the food, the band, the weather but most importantly the people, your friends and family; all those wonderful people that you have chosen to surround yourself with on this most amazing of days.

And that’s what I remember most vividly about Sarah & James’ day, the friendships, the love.  Days like this are truly life affirming.  Many many congratulations Sarah & James, you are two of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure to meet and your wedding was amazing for all the right reasons. Here’s the story of your day.
