Orchardleigh House Wedding
Lauren & Richard | Orchardleigh House Wedding
Lauren and Richard were married at All Saints Church just down the road from Orchardleigh House, where they were getting ready and having their reception.
Orchardleigh House, located just north of Frome in Somerset, is such a beautiful venue for a wedding reception and has frequently been nominated for UK’s Best Wedding Venue. It really is a delight and the house has a wonderful history to it, with it’s family ownership having only changed twice in the last 800 years. The house is set in over 500 acres of parkland and lakes and to cap it all there’s even an 18 hole golf course. What more could you ask for.
Richard and his groomsmen started the day with a quick half round of golf and took advantage of the best weather we unfortunately had all day. Meanwhile Lauren and her bridesmaid were getting prepared in one of the magnificent bedroom at Orchardleigh House, helped on by a spot of bucks-fizz! Lauren looked simply stunning.
The ceremony at All Saints Church in Lullington was wonderful, even if the vicar did get Richard’s name wrong but it was all taken in great humour by Lauren and James…..er…..I mean Richard! The weather pretty much held until we returned to Orcharleigh House and were midway through some group photos and to be honest it pretty much set itself in for the day then.
I really felt for Lauren & Richard as one of the reasons that you would choose to have an Orchardleigh House Wedding would be to take advantage of the wonderful grounds and views yet the weather really did show no signs of letting up. It would be a cliche to say that it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits but it would be so true.
The food looked terrific and I loved the idea of each table have a joint of meat which a nominated member of the wedding party had to carve. It made it really fun and was a great change to the normal wedding breakfasts.
After dinner the weather took a turn for the better…..it changed from a downpour to just steadily raining but Richard and Lauren are made of strong stuff so with the rain coming down and the light fading fast we ventured out to get a few relaxed portraits in the grounds.
It was a fantastic day and I was delighted to be asked to capture the proceedings. Many many congratulation Lauren & Richard.
