Francesca + Dan | Devon Wedding

“What can I say – magical, magical, magical.  We absolutely loved looking through the photos. Whenever I get a bit down that the wedding is now done, I can go and relive it all over again.”

When I receive a wedding enquiry that essentially says “we’re getting married in a church just up the road from where we live and then having a marquee in the field next door, we’ll just walk from one location to the next” my heart sings. Its everything that I love about weddings….it’s personal, it’s real and its unpretentious. Add to the mix an amazing couple who were happy to put their faith in my as their photographer then this was always going to be a great day. Francesca & Dan were married in their village in Devon not far from Exeter and EVERYONE had a ball.

Some couples are so genuinely relaxed and undemanding that it almost feels like I must be missing something.  Their day just unfolds naturally, very little stress, just lots of love, friendship and fun. I love days like this and always feel I do my best work when couples just want me to do what I do, no steering me in any particular direction, I’m just left to get on with it.

Francesca is Italian, and one interesting thing for me about this was that a lot of Italian was spoken on the day.  Now I don’t speak any Italian, so at times I had little clue what was being said but this actually gave me clarity to concentrate on what was being felt as opposed to what was being said….there’s a BIG difference.  I don’t know if this comes across in the pictures but I feel it does. I wonder also, if perhaps Francesca’s family & friends felt more relaxed about me taking their photos because I couldn’t understand what they were saying to each other…..hey maybe they were saying what a dick the photographer is!

This was one of those rare weddings when I had to pinch myself that this was work.  It certainly didn’t feel like it and that was down to Fran, Dan and all their amazing friends and family.  What a great day, what a great couple.  Here’s the story of their day
