Kim & Chris | Cooling Castle Barn Wedding

I was always going to look forward to Kim & Chris’ wedding at Castle Cooling Barn in Kent after their amazing (if a bit weird – the weather not Kim or Chris!) pre-wed shoot.  There’s an understated tenderness that Kim and Chris have for each other that I couldn’t wait to capture on their wedding day and to top it all they’re such nice people to be around.

Kim and Chris were both wonderfully relaxed getting ready;  Kim supported and helped by her sisters and Chris by his best man, Duncan.  I love watching the transformation in people when getting all dressed up for their wedding.  Kim looked stunning, she had that enviable beauty in that she didn’t know quite how beautiful she looked – not fussy or forced just natural and genuine.

Chris looked wonderfully dashing in his tails and scarlet cravat and Duncan was soon on hand to help steady his nerves with a little drink – just for medicinal purposes of course! The ceremony itself was an incredibly relaxed affair with a very charismatic registrar. He also broke the unwritten 1st rule of being a registrar You must at all times be as unhelpful and uncooperative as possible with the photographer, so that was a nice change.

After the ceremony, Kim and Chris exited under a canopy of crossed fencing swords, sabres to be precise.  This was a lovely touch as it was while fencing that Kim and Chris met.  From there it was time for a few drinks and group photos in the garden of Castle Cooling Barn.  We the had time for some relaxed portraits just of Chris and Kim as husband and wife for the first time.

That just left dinner and dancing in the wonderful barn, which looks just beautiful with a three-tired cake to die for.
