I have to confess, I did get some strange looks when I told people I was planning to take a couple of models deep into the woods and shoot them.
The models in question, Arnel & Louis from Room 3, although relatively early on in their modelling careers, where fantastic to work with and a joy to be around for the afternoon. They were completely unfazed by tramping through ankle deep mud, standing around in the cold in only their vests, getting eyefuls of smoke from my smoke bombs and not to mention Louis quickly and adeptly taking on the role of my ‘voice activated light stand’.
It’s always worth have some key objectives whenever you set up one of these shoots, regardless of how far you stray from the initial concept. Well, our objectives couldn’t have been simpler; first and foremost I wanted everyone to have some fun (you’d be surprised how frequently this objective is either forgotten or never attained!) and hopefully get some nice ‘snaps’ along the way to use in the models’ portfolios.
I can vouch for the fact that we had a great time and I guess you can decide if we did indeed manage to get some nice ‘snaps’ along the way.
Many thanks to Charlotte from Room 3 for organising this and taking on the styling duties and also to Rachel Terry for her fabulous make-up artistry.
Az - Lovely set of images here Brett, with some very well controlled use of ‘off camera flash’.
